Foot Bone Pain

Foot bone pain can be a terrible discomfort when it is not taken care of immediately. If left untreated, it may result in more serious damage and may even lead to extensive treatments or even long term damage. So, it is rather important that when you begin to have any type of pain, in this case, foot pain, that you listen to your body as pain is the body’s method of telling you that something is wrong. Ok, so let’s talk a little bit about some of the home remedies that you might find helpful for relieving pain in the feet.

In many cases, foot bone pain can be soothed by rest. Often times when we put too much stress on our feet, the tissues and muscles surrounding the feet can become strained. By allowing our feet to rest it also allows the tissues to heal and can even help to prevent putting further stress to the affected area. You know how good it feels to elevate your feet at the end of a long day…go on and give your feet a break!

It is important to always wear the proper foot wear. The wrong shoes can simply make you miserable. You must have shoes that are supportive and that fit appropriately. It is also important to use the right shoes for the activity that you are participating in. For example, if you are hiking, then wear hiking shoes and not tennis shoes. Many people find that the wrong footwear can bring them to their knees. Think about the pressure that wearing high heels places on the forefoot and the toes. Ouch! Look for toes with a wider toe box so that your feet have room to breath.

Foot Pain Relief

It may be that your foot pain is such that it requires medication in order for you to get adequate relief. Naturally, do not begin any medication with talking with your health care provider first since there are other physical conditions that must be considered first. Your physician may suggest that you begin with over-the-counter medications to help reduce your foot bone pain, particularly if that foot pain is accompanied by swelling. Medications such as Acetaminophen, Ibuprofen, or Naproxen can help to lessen the pain as well as the inflammation.

If none of these help, then you will want to schedule an appointment with your physician to discuss your challenges. Foot bone pain is simply not something that you should ignore.
