Foot Pain in Children

Foot pain in children can be quite painful to see. This is true if they are your kids, and the foot pain in children is so intense. If this happens in your household, the best suggestion for you is to check the underlying cause. If the pain that they can feel happens once in a while, then it might be minor but when foot pain in children can be considered as chronic, then that is the time that you should be alarmed. This is the time that you need to consult the pediatrician of your children. And while waiting for that appointment with the doctor, then you may want to check the main causes of the pain in your kid. Here is what you can do.

Allow your child to rest on the bed or on the couch with her/his feet propped up. In many cases, the most active kids are the ones that will usually complain of foot pain. If they are really active in school, then the suggestion is for them to become inactive for at least a few hours in order to address the foot pain in children. You also need to examine the shoes of the kids, since in many cases the wrong choices of shoes can be the reason for the pain in the foot. If you think that the shoes are the reason, then you can switch the shoes of your kids for a few days if they are feeling the discomfort.

As a way to address the pain in the feet of the kids, you may want to use a warm compress. You can apply the warm compress to the kids’ foot every 2 or 3 hours. If the problem with the foot pain in children can be linked to his or her over-involvement in stressing physical activities, then you can limit their participation in these activities. Allow them to rest for one or two weeks, and after that time you can allow them back into their usual activities.

Foot pain in children can be addressed using these approaches, but in the end a check with the doctor should be done.
